Brandy has spent too long cast as a staid, after-dinner relic - magnificent, but underexplored. Burnt Faith set out to change that from the most unlikely of places: an urban distillery on the brewery mile in Walthamstow, east London.
Britain's first dedicated brandy distillery borrows the craft of Cognac - a hand-built Charentais still shipped over from France, then painted a defiant purple - but answers to none of its appellation rules. Free to choose its own grapes and casks, the team matures across Bourbon, Cognac, cherry-liqueur and Pineau des Charentes barrels to build something altogether new.
The result is a modern brandy of dried apricot and marmalade, caramel and chocolate, made to be enjoyed however you please - neat, long, or, yes, in a cocktail.

Batch One Brandy
